Tips And Tricks For Video Recording
Horizontally vs Vertical videos
While you can record vertical or horizontal videos on your phone, it's a good idea to stay with one orientation for the entire event you are filming . Jumping between vertical and horizontal can be jarring to viewers.
Hold your shot
Try to start recording a few seconds before the activity you want to capture, giving yourself time to steady the camera on the subject you're recording and then once the activity is over, hold for a few seconds before you stop recording. This gives you room in the editing process to add transitions.
Get close to your subject
You can almost never be too close. If you're recording someone talking, set up a frame size that puts their head just below the top of the camera frame and the bottom of the camera frame should not be much farther below the belt line. The exception is if your subject is waving their arms moving around a lot, then you might need to pull back a little further so you can get all the action. It's best not to zoom in on your subject, instead move closer if possible. The more you zoom in, the shakier your footage may be.
Multiple Angles
Different perspectives instantly make a video more interesting. Try to get a wide, medium and closeup shot of your subject hopefully at unique angles such as a lower angle where the camera is close to the ground. Anything you can do to spice up your videos makes all the difference and options are the way to go.
